The International Workshop and Conference “GRAPHIC ART 2021”
With a long-established tradition, Graphic Art in Vietnam and has developed through the ups and downs of history, embracing the unique characteristics of the national culture and achieving certain success in artistic creation process.
Integration, globalization and the rapid development of science and technology have influenced the development of arts and design in general and graphic art in particular. Graphic art practice in Vietnam has interacted with that of the region and the world through national and international exchange projects, seminars, workshops and exhibitions from the early 2000s. Especially, from 2008 to 2009, the graphic art in Vietnam made considerable changes, and was widely recognized by national and international experts as well as art lovers. The changes in terms of types, content, materials, imaging techniques, printing techniques, patterning trends, forms of expression and operation of artists have altered the perception and outlook on graphic art in a more positive and open way.
However, there is still a considerable gap between Vietnamese graphic art and that of the region and the world in idea thinking, shaping, facilities and new technology. Especially, in the trend of global integration and the industrial revolution 4.0, we need to have a new perspective in human resource training, in the operation of professional associations, and in international cooperation, etc. to develop modern Vietnamese graphic art so that it can integrate with the growth of the world graphic art but still retains its unique characteristics and traditions.
With the purpose to showcase the creativity of professional printmaking artists and to create an opportunity for interaction and exchange among domestic and international colleagues, the three organizations: Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Association, Van Lang University, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Fine Arts will co-organize The International Workshop and Conference “GRAPHIC ART 2021”
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I would like to thank scientists, managers, organizations, academies, and professional associations for contributing articles and participating in the conference. The Organizing Committee are looking forward to receiving many valuable ideas from participants, bringing success to the conference and the general development of Vietnamese graphic art.
